Ramadan advent calendar for kids: how to choose one
Last updated: 2 November 2026

A Ramadan advent calendar helps children experience the holy month day by day, the way an advent calendar does in December. Each evening, a door, a treat or a story marks the way to Eid. Here are the main kinds and how to pick the right one.
When does Ramadan 2027 start?
Ramadan 2027 is expected to start around 8 February 2027, based on astronomical calculation, with Eid al-Fitr around 9 or 10 March. The exact date is confirmed the evening before, when the crescent moon is sighted. For a calendar that ships, order before the end of January.
The 4 kinds of Ramadan calendars
Treat calendars. Thirty doors with a date, a chocolate or a sweet. Children love them, but they are empty after a month and teach very little.
Good deeds calendars. A small task each day: help set the table, say thank you, share. Educational, though you often have to come up with the tasks yourself.
Wooden or fabric calendars. Reusable every year and filled by you. Beautiful, but they take time to prepare.
Calendar books. A short story to read each evening. A screen-free bedtime ritual, and a book you keep.
Choosing by age
From 3 to 5, go for pictures and simple rituals: a short story, an easy gesture. From 6 to 9, children like ticking, counting and learning: good deeds to check off, a few Arabic words, a question to think about. Older children may prefer a Ramadan journal to fill in.
Our idea: a calendar book with their name
We made 30 Nights of Ramadan to bring the best of all four together: a story each evening with your child as the hero, an Arabic word to learn and a good deed to tick off. The book is printed with their name and your own dedication.
Questions
29 or 30 days? Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days depending on the year. A 30-day calendar covers both: the last page can celebrate Eid.
Can I give one to a non-Muslim child? Yes, to share a friend's or family's traditions. The stories are about sharing, patience and family.
